The Practicality of Inequalities

Students were provided a re-entry letter today to welcome them to the 3rd marking term and provide them a sense of what to expect in the two months that lie ahead.

We dedicated a significant amount of time to discussing the use of inequalities to describe phenomena around us, ranging from sports examples to those in nature and agriculture.

Students are reminded that they are to work on their class notes NIGHTLY, in particular on the key terms/ideas and reflection sections.

2nd Term Grades Available at Snapgrades

Hello Everyone and Happy New Year!

As today's blog heading clearly states, grades for the 2nd term are finalized in math and available at www.snapgrades.net.

For those students and families needing more clarification and a look ahead at what to expect in the 3rd term, I will be providing students with a hard-copy of a letter available at http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dcszzgg_2053fwbxpcz

Content-wise, we are kicking off the 3rd term with inequalities which is a nice change of pace in that they describe the world around us much more realistically than equations tend to do. For students that are feeling overwhelmed by the sheer volume of math we have covered and will continue to explore, take heart, the curriculum is spiraling such that you will get to revisit (NOT REVIEW) topics in a way that may provide a second opportunity for understanding.

Cheers,
N. Hodjat
